Description
The Gulaal Chanderi Kurta Set works in inversion: where other pieces lay color against ivory, this one lays ivory against red. The ground is a fully saturated poppy — 80gm silk chanderi in a tone that photographs differently in every light but is always, unmistakably, red — and cream thread embroidery works against it in a contrast so immediate it reads as decisive rather than decorative.
The yoke carries a pointed arch composition in cream thread with pita ribbon-work highlights. Scattered buti motifs populate the body, each one sharper against this ground than it would ever be on ivory. Then the hem makes its argument: a wide, densely worked panel of cream botanical and floral embroidery consuming the entire lower quarter of the kurta — front and back both — where the cream coverage becomes dense enough to shift the visual weight of the garment entirely downward.
