Where its red-on-ivory counterpart builds toward a central figurative motif, this piece thinks in repetition. An all-over scatter of individual red buti motifs — stylized palm forms and floral sprigs — covers the entire ivory ground front and back in a rhythm that references folk textile traditions without being enslaved to any one of them. Vertical border panels frame both side seams; a dense multi-band geometric hem border stacks pattern upon pattern in running florals, chevrons, and lattice work. The back carries a central wave-pattern panel in dense red thread that reveals itself only when the kurta is in motion.
Dabka and pita work accent select outlines throughout. The sleeve edge and kurta hem finish in a raw folk fringe — the detail that most honestly names what this piece is: handcraft, at its most alive.
